Westchester SC Cease Operations, Draw 2-2 In Final match
October 24, 2026 Sarasota, Florida

After months of speculation, Westchester SC is officially ceasing operations at the conclusion of the 2026 USL League One season. The development, which winds down the club's professional run, was first reported on October 4th by @TheExchangeFC alongside @HudsontoHarborNY and @EastCoastFutbol. Despite demonstrating strong on-field progression and navigating a highly competitive New York soccer landscape, underlying financial sustainability hurdles and facility limitations ultimately forced the expansion side to fold prematurely.
Despite news breaking prior to the club's final match, the team left everything on the pitch in its final professional outing on October 24, 2026, battling to a dramatic 2-2 tie against Sarasota Paradise. Early second-half goals by Jonathan Bolanos and Emiliano Terzaghi staked Sarasota to a 2-0 lead against keeper Andrew Hammersley, but Jonathan Jimenez cut the lead to 2-1 in the 83rd minute, setting up Daniel Burko’s heroics in stoppage time to level the match at 2-2.
The draw completed an impressive second-year turnaround under first-year coach George Gjokaj, going from 5-16-9 in their inaugural season to 11-14-7 in season two. They finished 10-4-2 at home (a marked improvement from 3-8-4 in Mt. Vernon in their inaugural season) and scored the second-most goals at home in a USL League One season (39), trailing only the regular season champion Charlotte Independence.
