Gotham FC Win the 2026 NWSL Challenge Cup

Gotham FC won the 2026 NWSL Challenge Cup by defeating the Kansas City Current 2-0 on Friday, June 26, 2026, in front of 11,369 fans at Scotts Miracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio. The match made history as the first professional women's soccer match ever played in the state of Ohio.
The annual Supercup match featured Gotham FC (the reigning NWSL Champions) against the Kansas City Current (the 2025 NWSL Shield winners). Spanish forward Esther González opened the scoring in the 37th minute for Gotham by converting a penalty kick after Jaelin Howell drew a foul in the box. Rookie forward Jordynn Dudley doubled the lead in the 79th minute, forcing a midfield turnover and driving through the Current defense to seal the game. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger recorded a clean sheet, supported by a stalwart defensive backline featuring Tierna Davidson, Jess Carter, and Emily Sonnett as Gotham FC claimed the title. This victory marks the first Challenge Cup championship in the history of the Gotham FC franchise, following runner-up finishes in both 2021 and 2024.
