This Friday, two struggling local @uslleagueone sides Westchester  SC and New York Cosmos take a break from league play to face off in a 2026 USL Cup match in Mt. Vernon, NY. This match will also be the 1st Edition of this local 🗽 NY/NJ derby.

Both clubs come into the match needing a result to help turn their seasons around. Westchester is coming off of a 1-0 loss on the road to Fort Wayne, while Cosmos are coming off of a 3-1 road defeat against Hearts of Pine. With both clubs in need of a victory, expect each side to field a strong XI.

🔵🔵No.6 Connor McGlynn (Westchester SC)

Westchester's captain is off to a great start to the 2026 campaign. Playing as a central midfielder, the Middle Village, NY native has scored 5 goals and assisted on another in eleven matches in all competitions. The 27 year old former Siena Saints player, is an experienced player, having played in USL Championship with Hartford Athletic and Rhode Island FC. He is looking to lead his side to a victory in this new local derby match.

⚪️🟢 No. 13 Sebastian Guenzatti (Cosmos)

The Cosmos veteran striker has scored 3 goals in eight matches on the young season. He has scored in his last two league matches, and looks to continue his scoring form. The Cosmos captain, who has been one of the top strikers in the USL for the last decade, is approaching 100 career goals, he sits at 98 goals in 365 appearances. The Montevideo, Uruguay native, spent most of his youth in Queens, and has experienced success in previous New York derby matches. He hopes that experience can lead to more success in the showdown with Westchester.
