The United States Men’s National Team announced the arrival of an exciting new generation, defeating arch-rivals Mexico 3-0 in front of a passionate crowd at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Led by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, the Americans turned the 80th edition of the "Duel in the Desert" into an absolute showcase for their young talents.

The match started with a highly aggressive tempo as a strong Mexican side looked to assert itself early. While Mexico initially looked like the better side, the U.S. tactical press quickly turned the tide, forcing critical mistakes deep in the Mexican defensive third. The opening breakthrough arrived after Giovanni Reyna drove toward the box and hit a low cross that deflected off the keeper's foot. Perfectly positioned, 18-year-old Julian Hall pounced on the loose ball, blasting his right-footed shot home at close range in the 28th minute. With the strike, Hall became only the third player in modern USMNT history to score in each of his first three international caps. The match would go into the half with the Americans holding on to a 1-0 lead.

The definitive moment of the night belonged to Cavan Sullivan in the 62nd minute. At just 17 years and 5 days old, the Philadelphia Union phenom read a sloppy clearance pass from Mexico keeper Raúl Rangel. Without hesitation, Sullivan intercepted the ball and lofted an impressive, long-range chip completely over the keeper's head and into the back of the net. The brilliant strike officially crowned him the youngest goalscorer in the history of the USMNT program. Already reeling from a direct red card issued to defender Mateo Chávez in the 67th minute, Mexico's backline crumbled under late pressure. Midfielder Malik Tillman intercepted another careless backpass, turning cleanly to smash a spectacular strike into the top corner, polishing off a dominant U.S. victory with his 84th-minute strike. With the victory, the United States would claim North American bragging rights.
