USA Defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina to reach last 16(2-0)

The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 on Wednesday night at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium to advance to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16.
The Breakthrough: Striker Folarin Balogun scored his third goal of the tournament in the 45th minute to open the scoring for the USA, sliding a low, left-footed shot past goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj. The USA looked to have control of the match. However, in the 64th minute Balogun received a controversial straight red card via Video Review for dangerous play, forcing the U.S. to play with 10 men for over half an hour.
Despite playing with 10 men, midfielder Malik Tillman would seal the victory in the 82nd minute with a world-class knuckleball free kick from 20 yards out. The USA would end the match with a 2-0 victory. The victory marked the first time the U.S. has ever won three matches in a single World Cup tournament, as well as its first knockout stage victory since beating Mexico in 2002.
