This Wednesday local MLS side's Red Bull NY and NYCFC take a break from league play to face-off in their Round of 16 US Open Cup match. This match will also be the 1st Edition of the season for this local 🗽 derby.

Both clubs come into the match struggling in league play. Despite the fanfare of signing Michael Bradley as manager, the Red Bulls are off to a 3-4-3 start in league play having conceded 25 goals in 10 league matches. They are coming off of a 2-0 loss to FC Cincinnati. The fact the Red Bulls have been giving young players significant minutes this season, has to some extent removed the focus on Michael Bradley's struggles in the early going.

New York City FC is also off to a 3-4-3 start this season. The New Yorker's are currently on a 6 match winless streak, most recently dropping a 1-0 match to CF Montreal. Pascal Jansen's side has conceded 13 goals during the 6 match winless streak.

A win in the match will go a long way in helping either club to forget of their recent struggles, and help them to focus on competing for a US Open Cup title.
