Red Bull New York are finalizing details on the signing of Brazilian Under-20 international striker Caio Suassona from Esporte Club Bahia. The 6'0 Brazilian is a versatile right-footed attacker who primarily operates as a center-forward but can also play effectively on the wings.
The transfer is being reported to be for 3.8 million dollars, according to Fefo Noronha in the Brazilian press. Suassona has made six apperances for Bahia's first team in 2026. At the end of May, Bahia announced a contract extension with Suassona until the end of 2029.
Caio Suassona was discovered in Náutico's youth system, before joining Cruzeiro's under-17 team in 2024, where he scored 20 goals in 28 games. In 2025 he was transferred to Club Athletico Paranaense. Wearing the CAP jersey in 2025, he scored three goals in 18 games for the under-20 team, leaving the Paraná club to play for Bahia's youth team in the second half of the year. For the under-20 team, the center forward accumulated 17 games and 13 goals – eight of which were scored in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

In early June, he was called up and played in two friendly matches with the Brazilian under-20 national team against Chile, during preparations for the South American tournament in that category.
Besides adding additional depth to a position that seems amply filled, with Julian Hall and Choupo-Moting, this is a move that is in line with the Red Bull Global strategy of acquiring highly rated young prospects. Caio is already regarded as a future talent in Brazil, and with experience and development at the MLS level, it wouldn't be a surprise if the young Brazilian attacker sees joining Red Bulls as a part of his progression into European football.
