Group B Breakdown - 2026 World Cup

As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, we take a look at the 12 groups. Today we take a look at Group B.

The tournament which takes place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first FIFA World Cup to include 48 teams, expanding from the previous total of 32.

Group B Breakdown – 2026 FIFA World Cup

After Group A kicks things off, Group B comes right in with a really interesting mix of teams. It’s one of those groups where nothing feels guaranteed—perfect for drama early in the tournament.

Who’s in Group B?

Group B includes:

  • Canada

  • Switzerland

  • Qatar

  • Bosnia & Herzegovina

You have a host nation, a strong European side, a recent World Cup host, and a team that fought its way through playoffs. Pretty balanced overall.

Canada – Home Energy, Time to Deliver

Canada is playing at home, which is a huge advantage. Their games in Toronto and Vancouver are going to be packed, loud, and probably overwhelming for opponents.

This is a big moment for them—they’ve been building a talented team over the last few years, but they still haven’t made a real impact at a World Cup yet.

With players like Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David, this feels like their best shot to finally go on a run.

Switzerland – Quietly Very Good

Switzerland is one of those teams that doesn’t get a ton of hype—but always shows up.

They’re organized, disciplined, and hard to break down. Plus, they’ve been super consistent in recent tournaments, which gives them a bit of an edge in a group like this.

Honestly, they might be the safest bet to get out of this group.

Qatar – Looking to Prove They Belong

Qatar is back after hosting the 2022 World Cup, and this time they actually had to qualify.

They might not be favorites, but they play a really structured, defensive style that can slow games down and frustrate teams.

If matches get tight (and they probably will), Qatar could definitely steal points.

Bosnia & Herzegovina – Sneaky Danger

Bosnia might be the most underrated team in this group.

They fought through the playoffs to get here, including a big upset win to qualify, so this is a team with confidence right now.

They’ve got physical players, good attacking options, and the kind of unpredictability that can mess up everyone’s predictions.

Games to Watch

  • Canada vs Bosnia (Opening Game) – Big pressure on Canada right away.

  • Qatar vs Switzerland – Could set the tone for how the group plays out.

  • Canada vs Switzerland – Probably decides who wins the group.

With the new format, even third place can still qualify, so nobody’s out of it early.

Quick Prediction

This one feels tight, but here’s a realistic call:

1.   Switzerland

  1. Canada

  2. Bosnia & Herzegovina

  3. Qatar

Canada could easily top the group with that home advantage, however, this one could go either way.

Final Thoughts

Group B is one of those groups that might not look flashy at first, but it has plenty of intrigue.

You have a host nation trying to make history, a super consistent European team, and two underdogs that can cause problems. That combination usually leads to chaos—and that’s exactly what makes it fun.
