PATERSON, NJ (May 22, 2026) — The Cosmos will host a press conference at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 26th at The Charles J. Muth Museum of Hinchliffe Stadium to officially announce the opening of “Cosmos and the Cup: Local Legends – Global Glory,” a multimedia exhibition exploring the club’s connection to the FIFA World Cup and the global game.

Opening to the public on July 3rd, in conjunction with the Flag Cities World Cup Watch Party at Hinchliffe Stadium, the exhibition will be a centerpiece of the club’s World Cup programming. The exhibit highlights the Cosmos’ international legacy while celebrating North Jersey's vital and historic contribution to the growth of US soccer.

At the exhibition’s heart are the 25 Cosmos players who competed at FIFA World Cup tournaments. They represented 17 nations, including West Germany (Franz Beckenbauer) and Brazil (Carlos Alberto Torres and Pelé) who lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy.

Through photography, archival materials, artwork, and historical storytelling, the exhibition traces how the Cosmos became known around the world as “America’s International Team.”

Beyond celebrating the club’s international legacy, the exhibition is an educational experience that uses the history of the Cosmos and World Cup to explore themes of history, geography, immigration, culture and soccer’s global impact of soccer across generations and communities.

The exhibition will also feature artwork by Lorenzo Mortet, a young artist and sixth-generation sculptor from Rome whose work was inspired by a personal connection to Pelé. Mortet’s pieces explore the relationship between football, inspiration and artistic legacy, adding an artistic perspective to the exhibition’s celebration of the global game.

Tuesday’s press conference will take place inside the museum theater and will feature remarks from local leaders, club executives, exhibit organizer, and community partners involved in bringing the exhibition to life.

Scheduled speakers include Congresswoman Nellie Pou, Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh, Cosmos Owner Baye Adofo-Wilson, Cosmos Historian and exhibition curator David Kilpatrick, and Jim Kirkos, President of the Meadowlands Chamber. Additional special guests and former Cosmos players are also expected to attend.
